Where the name comes from

It started in the Old Pueblo: reading Pima County flood maps, learning why one house backs onto a wash and floods in minutes while the one across the street stays dry, and finding out which local companies answered the phone at 2 a.m. in August. That work is why the map could grow.
What we are — and what we are not

What Tucson taught us
Tucson is a strange place to learn restoration, which is exactly why it is a good one.
Monsoon flash flooding
An inch in twenty minutes onto ground that cannot absorb it. Dry washes run feet deep, and their silt puts the loss past clean-water category.
Evaporative (swamp) coolers
A roof box pumping water over pads all summer. One stuck float sends water through the roof deck into the ceiling.

The 24–48 hour rule still governs wet materials, but desert air dries the surface while the assembly stays saturated. Dry to the touch is not dry.

Foothill homes sit in the WUI. Soot and odor travel far past any burn perimeter, so a house that never saw flame can need a full S700 scope.
